The New Writers 1000-Word Short Story Competition 2024 is seeking imaginative, thought-provoking stories of up to 1,000 words. With a prize fund of £1,500 and the winners getting published on the website and in a future New Writers Anthology, this is a great competition for new and experienced writers alike.
Also, £1.00 from each entry will be donated to creative writing charity, First Story (who do some brilliant work to help empower young people and give them a creative voice). So even if you don’t win, you’ll still be contributing to a good cause.
We are also very happy to have the brilliant novelist and poet Cassandra Parkin as our head judge for the competition. You can read our Q&A with Cassandra to find out about the kind of entries she might particularly welcome.
So if you’d like the chance to win £1,000 for (up to) 1,000 words, get involved.
