It has been rebranded as “THE AMAZING WRITERS £500 Flash Fiction Competition – in association with Scrivener – (Brought to you by the Failing Writers Podcast)” which is quite a mouthful\, but you get the gist. \nThe theme for Flash Fiction Contest 2026 is “birthday”\, and you’ll also need to include the special secret phrase which will be revealed on the podcast on 14th September 2026. \nAll the finalists and some of the runners-up stories will be read out on the podcast\, and there might even be a few extra prizes for those that don’t quite make it to the gold medal spot on the podium. For instance\, runners-up will be awarded a copy of Scrivener’s writing software.

There is also the option to pay an extra €45 to get a critique of your entry\, if that floats your boat. \nAside from the prizes listed above\, the top 10 stories will be published in the next Fish Anthology\, which is a great way to get your writing out to a wider audience.
