They are seeking: \n\nThe first five chapters of a book for children\, either fiction or non-fiction\,\nOR a whole picture-book story. Please state whether the book is:\n• a picture-book story for 3–6 year olds\n• an early-reader chapter book for 6–8 year olds\n• a novel for 8–11 year olds\n• a novel with storylines and themes more suitable for 11–13 year olds\n• a work of non-fiction for any of the age groups listed above\nA synopsis or summary of the book (between 100 and 300 words).\nA short piece of writing (1\,000–3\,000 words) for children that begins with either\nof these two lines:\n• It seemed like such an ordinary day…\nOR\n• I opened the door and found…\nThis can be a short story\, poetry or a picture-book text; it can be comic\, dramatic\, moving\,\nlargely dialogue or whatever you like.\nSome information about you (see site for full details).\n\nNote that the organisers are also running the Kelpies Prize for Illustration at the same time.
