The competition will be open from 17th December 2024 to 17th February 2025 and the entry fee is £5 per poem (maximum length 70 lines).  \nThe judge for the 2024/25 competition is Jeremy Dixon\, a prize-winning poet\, workshop leader and maker of Artist’s Books. He is the author of the pamphlet IN RETAIL (Arachne Press\, 2019). His first full collection A VOICE COMING FROM THEN (Arachne Press\, 2021) won the Wales Book of the Year Poetry Award 2022.  \nThe winner will receive £500 plus the choice of either a course at Literature Wales’ Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre or a week-long self-catered retreat at their dedicated writing retreat cottage\, Nant. Second place will get £100 and third will get £50\, and all three winners will be published in Poetry Wales and get a year’s subscription too. 10 highly commended poets will be invited to read at the Awarding Ceremony\, and have their poems published in an online booklet on poetrywales.co.uk.

Open to short stories and poems\, there are various categories for under 18s and another for adults. Check out the competition terms and conditions for all the details. Please read the terms carefully as they vary depending on the type of submission and the age of the entrant. \nNote that there are different prizes and word/line limits for the different categories\, but the adults have a word limit of 1\,500 words for short story entries and 30 lines for poems. Note also that the Arial font must be used. There is the option to pay for Judges Feedback (fee £10.00) or a Full Critique (fee £25). \nGood luck!
