SUMMARY:Globe Soup 2023 Genre Smash Short Story Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Deadline: 23:59 (UK time) on 23 October 2023\nEntry Fee: £5 General Entry\, £9 Late Entry\nPrizes: Winner: £1\,000\nWord Limit: 5\,000\nCategory: Short Story Competitions\nCompetition Website:  globesoup.net/genre-smash-short-story-challenge-2023\n\nFor writers who want to take part in regular competitions but also be part of an online writing community\, Globe Soup is a brilliant option. As well as the open competitions (like this one) which are outlined on their website\, they also have an amazing members-only Facebook group. \nThe group is a forum in which writers of all types and experience levels can support one another’s endeavours\, share success stories and generally chat about writing. But there are also loads of members-only competitions available\, most with cash prizes\, that are well worth checking out\, including their 7 Day Story Writing Challenges. The group is open to anyone who has entered one of the Globe Soup paid-for competitions. \nBack to this competition\, and with a great prize of £1\,000 for the winner\, it should be on your list of competitions to enter. It will particularly suit those who fancy having a go at historical fiction. \nBut these something of a twist here… all participants will be randomly assigned a genre pairing. As soon as you receive your ‘smashed’ genres\, you’ll have until the closing time to write and submit a short story of any length up to 5\,000 words\, that perfectly and seamlessly combines both genres into one amazing short story. \nThe Genre Pairings \n\nWestern + Horror\nRegency + Thriller\nAlternative History + Fantasy\nUrban + Fairy Tale\nIsekai + Crime\n\nYou won’t know which genre pairing you’ve got until you purchase your ticket for the competition. So if you fancy a challenge that could help push you out of your writing comfort zone\, why not give this a try?
