The winners of each category will receive a £1\,000 cash prize and publication in Wasafiri magazine. All winners and shortlisted writers will be offered the Chapter and Verse or Free Reads mentoring scheme in partnership with The Literary Consultancy (dependent on eligibility)\, as well as a one-year print subscription to Wasafiri. \nWasafiri has been encouraging great writing from writers far and wide for more than three decades and their publication often has a decidedly international feel to it. But above it\, they seek out high-quality writing\, whether fiction\, non-fiction or poetry. Note that a single poetry entry can include up to three poems\, which together total no more than 3\,000 words. Each entry comprising three poems submitted as a single document. \nPlease visit the competition website for the full details.

SUMMARY:Bath Children's Novel Award 2025
DESCRIPTION:Deadline: 23:59 (UK time) on 30 November 2026\nEntry Fee: £33\nPrizes: 1st Place: £5\,000; all shortlisted entrants win feedback on their full manuscript; all longlisted entrants win extract feedback; online novel editing course worth £1\,980 for one longlisted entrant.\nWord Limit: Opening 5\,000 words plus one page synopsis of children’s or YA novel manuscripts\, or up to three picture book texts\nCategory: Children’s Novel Competitions\nCompetition Website:  bathnovelaward.co.uk/childrens-novel-award\n\nThe sister competition of the Bath Novel Award (which has been running since 2013)\, The Bath Children’s Novel Award is seeking the best new children’s authors. The competition is open to books that are unpublished\, self-published or even independently published\, and the following are accepted: YA novels; novels for teens; children’s novels; early readers; chapter books and the text of picture books. \nEntries should include up to 5\,000 words of your novel along with a one-page synopsis. Picture book entries should be text only of up to three books in a single submission with a short synopsis for each story. \nThe entry fee of £33 might appear on the high side when it comes to writing competitions. But then the judges and readers need to assess 5\,000 words plus a synopsis for each entry\, so it is understandable on a certain level. And the top prize for 2026 is a whopping £5\,000\, which is also very nice indeed (and probably more than a lot of a published authors make from royalties in a year!).
