The top prize of £1\,000 is well worth going for\, plus there’s a second prize of £300\, a third prize of £100 and two commendation awards of £30 each. In addition\, 50 longlisted entrants will be offered publication.  \nEntrants must be aged 16 or older\, and entries must not have been published in print or online and must be adult or young adult readers (i.e. not aimed at children under 13 years of age). Note that entries should be typed in a sans 14pt font (many competitions request a 12pt font\, so be sure to get this right to avoid getting disqualified on such a technicality). For many\, that will be enough to convince them to enter. But throw in publication in this classy and well-regarded poetry magazine\, and this is certainly a competition for the most ambitious poets out there. \nThe judge for the 2026 Prize is Seán Hewitt\, the author of two poetry collections\, Tongues of Fire and Rapture’s Road\, and a memoir\, All Down Darkness Wide. His debut novel\, Open\, Heaven\, was published in 2024.
