SUMMARY:Not Quite Write Prize for Flash Fiction
DESCRIPTION:Deadline: 11.59pm (AEDT) Sunday 26th April 2026\nEntry Fees: AU$35 per entry (PayPal) (approximately £17)\nPrizes: Total prize pool: AU$4\,000 (everyone on the shortlist wins a cash prize); Winner: AU$1\,500; 2nd place: AU$1\,000; 3rd place: AU$500; 4th place: AU$350; 5th place: AU$250; 6th place: AU$200; 2 x Wildcard prizes: AU$100 (all winners also receive print publication in the Not Quite Write anthology and are read aloud on the podcast)\nWord Limit: 500 words or fewer (excluding title)\nJudges: Ed and Amanda (Hosts of the Not Quite Write Podcast)\nCategory: Flash Fiction Competitions\nCompetition Website: notquitewritepodcast.com/prize\n\nThe Not Quite Write Prize for Flash Fiction is different to most flash fiction competitions for various reasons. Firstly\, you have only two days in which to write your 500-word story. Secondly\, instead of just one prompt\, there are two… plus an additional anti-prompt\, which urges you to break a specific ‘rule’ of writing. This will either get your creative juices flowing or have you tearing your hair out\, but we are really drawn to the originality of the competition… and indeed the AU$4\,000 in cash prizes available! \nThere’s an option to purchase a critique if you so wish\, and even an option to have your entry read on the podcast with an on-air critique (of you’re feeling brave). So if you want to test yourself in a time-specific competition that forces to your work within set parameters\, this could be the contest for you.
