The third poetry competition run by NewWriters.org.uk, the New Writers Poetry Competition 2025 is seeking fresh new poetry with no theme or style restrictions.
With our biggest-ever prize fund of £1,800 and the winners getting published on the website and in the next New Writers Anthology, this is a great competition for new and experienced poets to get their work out there.
We’re excited to welcome award-winning writer Katrina Moinet as the Head Judge for the competition. Katrina’s debut debut pamphlet Portrait of a Young Girl Falling was published by Hedgehog Press in 2024 and has since been shortlisted for the Wales Book of the year Award 2025.
Also, 10% of the proceeds from this competition will be donated to charity, split between two UK-registered charites: First Story (who do some brilliant work to help empower young people and give them a creative voice) and The Funzi and Bodo Trust (who run educational and other developmental projects in Kenya). So even if you don’t win, you’ll still be contributing to a fantastic cause.
