The Prole Laureate Poetry Competition for 2024 is now open for entries. With no set theme and no limit to the number of lines in your poem, this is a great opportunity for those poets who don’t enjoy trying to squeeze their creations into a mere 40 lines.
As the organisers say, “We are, as ever, open regarding length, style and content. We are looking for poetry that epitomises the editorial values of Prole: to make writing engaging, accessible, challenging and entertaining. Quality is all.”
As poetry competitions go, the entry fee is very fair and with the winner and the runners-up having their entries published in the next issue of Prole, this is a fantastic chance to get your work out into the world. The poetry competition is being judged by Maurice Devitt, whose debut poetry collection ‘Growing Up in Colour’ was published by Doire Press in 2018, and whose second collection ‘Some of These Stories are True’ came out in May 2023.
