The judge for the competition is Louise Kennedy, whose novel, Trespasses, won the McKitterick Prize, Debut of the Year at the British Book Awards, the John McGahern Prize and the An Post Irish Book Awards Novel of the Year, and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize and longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction. She is also the author of a collection of short stories, The End of the World Is a Cul de Sac. She has written for The Guardian, the Irish Times and BBC Radio 4. Before becoming a writer, she worked as a chef for almost thirty years.
