For writers who want to take part in regular competitions but also be part of an online writing community, Globe Soup is a brilliant option. As well as the open competitions (like this one) which are outlined on their website, they also have an amazing members-only Facebook group.
The group is a forum in which writers of all types and experience levels can support one another’s endeavours, share success stories and generally chat about writing. But there are also loads of members-only competitions available, most with cash prizes, that are well worth checking out, including their 7 Day Story Writing Challenges. The group is open to anyone who has entered one of the Globe Soup paid-for competitions.
Back to this competition, and the Globe Soup ‘Inspired by Art’ Flash Fiction Challenge 2024 is well worth checking out. In this competition, Globe Soup challenge you to create a compelling tale in 500 words or fewer, drawing inspiration from one of 24 stunning artworks from emerging and established artists (provided with their consent). You need to ensure you read and understand the rules for this contest (to be found HERE) so you understand what’s required.
All the artwork featured in this competition is used with the express permission of the artists, who will be compensated for their contributions. The winning story and the artwork that inspired it will be published on the Globe Soup website following the announcement of the result. The author of the winning story will receive £750, and the artist will receive £250 as thanks for allowing their work to be displayed on our site indefinitely.
