The Cheshire Novel Prize is an excellent option for authors who are serious about getting their novels out there. Not only is there an excellent panel of judges (tbc), the competition also stands out because ALL entrants receive feedback on their submission (of at least one paragraph).
With a top prize of £1,000, there is clearly a lot of appeal. But it is the prestige of winning the award that could really kickstart your career as a novelist.

– Longlist is announced in September 2026 – Dates to be confirmed
– Top 100 will be announced shortly after the longlist in September.
– Shortlist is announced in November 2026
– Winner announcement will be in December 2026
Note that long-listed novels will be announced September and all long-listed writers will be required to send an additional 15,000 words including the original 5,000 words to make 20,000 words, plus your 500 word synopsis.
