Globe Soup 2025 Open Short Story Competition

Friends of NewWriters.org.uk, Globe Soup are one of our favourite writing organisations, and their 2025 Open Short Story Competition is well wroth entering.
There’s a great top prize of £2,000, but also £1,000 for second and £500 for third. In addition, there’s a £1,500 prize draw that one lucky entrant will win, irrespective of whether their entry wins a prize or makes the shortlist.
The competition will particularly suit those who are heartened by the generous word limit of 8,000. There’s also the option of receiving a critique on your entry or entries (£25 per entry), and there’s the opportunity to receive feedback BEFORE you enter from others in the Globe Soup community.
For writers who want to take part in regular competitions but also be part of an online writing community, Globe Soup is a brilliant option. As well as the open competitions (like this one) which are outlined on their website, they also have an amazing members-only Facebook group. The group is a forum in which writers of all types and experience levels can support one another’s endeavours, share success stories and generally chat about writing. But there are also loads of members-only competitions available, most with cash prizes, that are well worth checking out, including their 7 Day Story Writing Challenges.
