For writers who want to take part in regular competitions but also be part of an online writing community, Globe Soup is a brilliant option. As well as the open competitions (like this one) which are outlined on their website, they also have an amazing members-only Facebook group. The group is a forum in which writers of all types and experience levels can support one another’s endeavours, share success stories and generally chat about writing. But there are also loads of members-only competitions available, most with cash prizes, that are well worth checking out, including their & Day Story Writing Challenges.
Back to this competition, and with a nice top prize of £1,000, it should be on your list of competitions to enter, especially if you want to try your hand at a spot of science fiction. It has a generous word limit of 5,000. Also, there is usually the opportunity for a feedback exchange with other entrants on the Facebook group once the deadline has passed which can be very useful for those trying to improve their craft.
