The Page is Printed creative writing competition is run by the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton, Somerset, and is different to most writing competitions in that it accepts any type of writing as long as it fits on a single side of A4. So whether you want to write prose, poetry, script, a confession, a love letter or anything else, this could be the perfect competition for you.
Note that there is a fee for entries from adults, but those aged under 18 can enter for free. There is an Open prize and an additional prize for resident of Somerset. Entry to the competition also entitles you to one free tickets for the Celebration Evening on 15th February 2025, at which the winners to the competition will be announced. There is also an additional prize of £25 for the “Best on the Night”.
There are four categories, each with their own prizes:
– The Somerset Prize (£100 voucher to Uk.Bookshop.org) is awarded to the best submission from a Somerset based writer. There is also an under 18’s version of this category with a £25 voucher prize available.
– The Open Prize (£100 voucher to Uk.Bookshop.org for UK based winners, or Waterstones.com for overseas winners) is awarded to the best submission regardless of the writer’s geographic location. Again, there is a separate under 18’s version of this category with a £25 voucher prize.
The competition is assessed by a panel of judges, which includes local award-winning poet Graeme Ryan.
