The Writers’ HQ Write A Novel Festival
At NewWriters.org.uk, we curate the best and most trusted current and upcoming writing competitions for writers in the UK and internationally — including flash fiction, short stories, poetry, novels, and non-fiction. Each competition listing includes the deadline, prize details, word limit, entry fee, and eligibility so you can quickly decide which contests fit your writing goals.

The Writers’ HQ Write A Novel Festival runs from the 1st to the 30th June 2025 and is a month of novel writing, workshops, write-alongs, community and tea drinking. Run by the excellent Writers’ HQ, will “Festival will hold your hand and kick your butt through starting, middling and finishing your novel.”
There are 12 workshops including:
– Writing A Wild Draft with Sarah Lewis
– Write-Along with Veronique Kootstra
– Funny Hats: Characterisation Masterclass with Akshay Gajria
– Write-Along with Kathy Hoyle
– Making Space for Stories that Hold Linh S Nguyen
– Write-Along with Mara Livermore
– Making Magic Real with Leone Ross
The workshops are free to Gold Star Members, which costs £20 a month or £190 annually, and also include access to 25 writing courses, monthly writing masterclasses, and access to the Writers’ HQ community.
